He might have retired from international football, ruling himself out for future selection for Bafana Bafana, and his team might have been relegated to the First Division, but former Bafana and Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe still has many ardent supporters.

On Tuesday. the player, known as Rhoo, visited two schools in Umlazi where hundreds of primary school children received gifts from him as part of his roadshow as a health ambassador for a national medical aid company.

Earlier in the day Radebe auctioned his memorabilia for charity at a breakfast at Durban's International Convention Centre.

Radebe's agent, Glyn Binkin, said all the proceeds from the roadshow and the auction would go to the SOS Children's Villages.

Radebe's roadshow began at the Diepsloot Combined School in Johannesburg on Monday. Former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker' also received a warm welcome. Onlookers waved and begged for a handshake or souvenir.

Apart from the pushing and shoving there was also dancing and singing.
