Temba Bavuma believes South Africa are finally ready to win a Cricket World Cup, following their dismantling of co-hosts India in the Super Eights over the weekend.

The Proteas made a massive T20 World Cup statement with their dominant 76-run win over India in Ahmedabad, which now firmly places them among the favourites to win the title.

It wasn’t too long either that the Proteas came perilously close to losing to Afghanistan in the group stage, needing two Super Overs to overcome their opponents.

Since then though, the Proteas have produced one-sided displays against New Zealand, UAE, and now India.

Proteas T20 Form and Bowling Prowess: Bavuma and Steyn’s Insights

“The Proteas T20 form has been good. From a batting point of view, the guys are smashing them. The bowling combinations have been good. The coach and captain have options at their disposal," Bavuma told SportsBoom.co.za.

“There seems to be a strong desire and motivation for the guys to do something special for the country.

“There is confidence, belief, and players who are capable of playing in the big moments. To some extent, you need luck to go your way. I don’t want to put the markers on the guys, but the title is there for the taking.”

This comes after former Proteas fast bowler, Steyn, sung the praises of Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen.

“There’s obviously plenty of fantastic bowlers at this WC, but talking slower balls specifically, I think the skills of Ngidi and Jansen, as a pair, are the best in the tournament,” said Steyn on X.
