Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain Tristan Stubbs believes his side is yet to play the "perfect game", despite reaching a record fourth consecutive final in the SA20.

Stubbs, captaining for the first time in the competition alongside the watchful eye of head coach Adrian Birrell, has successfully led the Sunrisers to their fourth SA20 final. This ensures the side has reached the tournament's showpiece match in every season since its inception.

On Friday evening, Englishman James Coles enjoyed a dream night, returning figures of 1/15 in four overs before smashing three sixes and four boundaries in an unbeaten 45.

His all-round performance guided the Gqeberha-based unit to a seven-wicket victory over the Paarl Royals. Senuran Muthusamy also played an exceptional role, taking 3/15 in his four overs to help seal the win.

Despite the convincing result, Stubbs believes his troops are still capable of more. The skipper wants his side to find an extra gear in Sunday’s final against the Pretoria Capitals as they chase a record third SA20 trophy.

“I don't think it was the perfect performance; we could have been a bit better in the field, if we're being honest,” Stubbs emphasised.

“But we've sort of done this the whole competition where we've played a really good game, then lost closely, and then played another good game. It has been a bit of a trend that we will look to rectify on Sunday.”

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape will travel from Johannesburg to Cape Town on Saturday, where they hope to recover in time to be fresh for Sunday's final.

The match at Newlands is set to get underway at 3.30pm on Sunday.
