Stellenbosch FC have boosted their season prospects with the acquisition of Mamelodi Sundowns duo Mosa Lebusa and Komamelo Kodisang, while high-profile striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has also joined on loan from Orlando Pirates

Mabasa and Kodisang join from their respective clubs on loan for the remainder of the season, while free agent Lebusa has joined the Winelands side after parting ways with Sundowns earlier in the current transfer window.

Stellies resume their Betway Premiership campaign with a tough away fixture against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday night. After enduring a difficult start to the season and losing head coach Steve Barker to Tanzanian side Simba SC, the trio will be a welcome addition to the squad and are in line to make their debuts against Babina Noko.

Speaking on the arrival of the new signings, club CEO Rob Benadie expressed his delight at what the players could offer and the impact they may bring to the side.

“Our club and new head coach are extremely pleased to bring in players of the calibre of Mabasa, Kodisang and Lebusa, who we believe can play a significant role in helping us achieve our remaining targets for this season,” Benadie said.

“These signings have arrived on short-term deals but represent a clear statement of our intent to improve this season, and we are confident that they possess the quality to make an immediate impact.

“They are players of international standard, having all represented South Africa, and they bring an ingrained winning mentality and an understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest level.

“That can only benefit our squad as we continually seek to raise our own standards and compete both domestically and on the continent.”

Stellies are currently in 14th place on the log on 12 points from 14 matches, and this will be Gavin Hunt's first match in charge since replacing Barker earlier this season.
