Stellenbosch FC is going back to its roots, announcing a new technical sponsorship deal with global sportswear brand Umbro that will take effect from the 2026-27 season.

The agreement, facilitated through Umbro’s African licensee partner ShockProof Investments 223 (Pty) Ltd, will see the iconic double-diamond brand supply the Cape Winelands club with official match kits, training wear, and off-field lifestyle apparel.

The deal marks a nostalgic and highly symbolic reunion for the two entities. Umbro previously served as Stellies' technical sponsor during their historic 2018-19 National First Division (NFD) campaign, a season that culminated in a title-winning triumph and the club's promotion to South Africa's top flight.

"Reuniting with Umbro connects an important chapter in our past with a shared vision for the future," said Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie.

"This renewed partnership will support the Club as we continue to grow and compete at the highest level. Umbro was a great partner during our promotion-winning era, and we look forward to building on that shared history and creating new memories together in the years ahead."

The partnership sees Stellenbosch rejoining an extensive international stable of over 120 teams currently outfitted by the historic British brand, which has been a staple in football culture since 1924.

Byron Mulholland, Sales Director at ShockProof Investment, echoed Benadie's enthusiasm, praising the club's upward trajectory and impact on the local game.

“We’re excited to welcome Stellenbosch FC back into the Umbro family and to support the players in performing at their peak," Mulholland stated. "The club’s remarkable rise and the energy it brings to South African football align perfectly with our values of passion and performance. Together, we look forward to growing the game and strengthening our connection with the fans.”

Stellenbosch FC now joins a global Umbro roster that includes English Premier League sides West Ham United, AFC Bournemouth, and Ipswich Town, alongside local Premier Soccer League rivals AmaZulu FC. Fans can expect the launch of the new 2026-27 kits ahead of the upcoming season.
