President Donald Trump has confirmed that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed in the joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran.

"Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS," Trump said in a post on social media.

The Iranian leader was killed on February 28th.

This alarming news comes on the heels of a statement from Iran asserting that its leadership remains "safe and sound," casting doubt over the accuracy of the claims.

The ongoing military operation, which American President Donald Trump has openly stated aims to destabilise Tehran's government, has resulted in substantial loss of life, with Iranian state media reporting over 200 casualties.
