In a video posted shortly on his Facebook account, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the citizens of Iran to rise against their regime, promising support and urging them to seize a historic opportunity for liberation.

He started off saying "In the coming days we will hit thousands of terrorist regime targets".

"We will provide conditions for the brave people of Iran to free themselves from the chains of tyranny. And that's why I'm addressing you again: O citizens of Iran, don't miss this opportunity. This is an opportunity that comes only once in a generation. Don't give up because soon your moment will come."

The moment you have to take to the streets, with your millions in the presence of them to finish, to overthrow the terror regime that has made your life bitter. Your sufferings and sacrifices will not be in vain."

He said the help the people of Iran were looking for was on its way.

"Help is on the way and now it's time to come together for a historic mission. O citizens of Iran, pious, Kurds, Azharis, Ahwazis and Balochs - now is the time to join forces to overthrow the regime and secure your future."

Meanwhile, Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian said today the killing of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was a "declaration of war against Muslims", vowing vengeance, reported AFP.

The US and Israel launched waves of strikes Saturday against targets in Iran, sparking swift retaliation by the Islamic republic.
