Imagine visiting Mzansi and having the Springboks captain, Siya Kolisi, as your tour guide!
English media personality and former footballer Ian Wright is currently visiting South Africa and received a warm welcome from Kolisi, who rolled out the red carpet for him.
The two shared videos of their adventures exploring Cape Town, showcasing the vibrant culture and local experiences.
Kolisi took the former Arsenal player on a township tour, where they travelled to the hood and enjoyed a braai at his favourite fast-food shisanyama spot.
Relaxing at a taxi rank, the pair broke bread and shared a meaningful conversation.
Wright also had the opportunity to meet some fans during his kasi adventure.
“The love and energy here 🇿🇦❤️ @siyakolisi,” Wright remarked in an Instagram post, describing his experience in South Africa.
Commenting on the video, netizens shared their thoughts:
@thaklaas said: “Love this! If someone visits SA, don’t take them to the fancy restaurants; take them to ekasi and let them experience local cuisines… brilliant ❤️.”
@augustinemasilelachuene commented: “This is why I adore this guy. His simplicity and normal humour is disarming and adorable at the same time. He is like your neighbour next door, literally.”
@cellular_jnr expressed: “I simply love this!!! This is the other side that the world doesn’t really know about South Africa. We’re simply welcoming and full of positive vibes. 🇿🇦🙌🔥”
@inheinsight_ added: “Very cool to see two icons be embraced as humans and not be hounded by crowds who thirst for selfies and autographs. This is beautiful, man.”
The duo also met up with social media star and creator Jonathan Peter.
Kolisi shared a video of the trio dancing to Master KG’s viral anthem "Jerusalema," capturing the joy of their time together on the lawns at Mount Nelson, a Belmond Hotel.
Kolisi is set to move to Cape Town and rejoin the DHL Stormers rugby team in July, at the conclusion of the current rugby season.
This move will allow him to be closer to his family and mentor younger players as part of the club's long-term vision.
