A couple enjoying a little Istanbul getaway got more than a view of the Bosphorus; they got an Airbnb host who said, “Sex? Not in my house, babes.”
Reddit user Responsible-Lack-285, travelling from Sweden with his wife, shared a photo of a handwritten note taped to the host’s bed frame. It read, in bold energy: “Use only to sleep / no other activities.”
Excuse me? Not even a little bit of "how are you doing"? No romantic moments? No baby-making plans? Haibo, even hotel Bibles aren’t this strict.
The traveller posted the picture with the caption, “Came here with my wife. Oh well.” practically telling the internet: “Guys, we had plans.”
And if that wasn’t enough to kill the mood, another note popped up - this time slapped onto the TV remote. It said: “Use only to turn the TV on/off.”
At this point, I’d be wondering what chaos this poor Airbnb owner has survived. What has been seen… or worse… smelt? Yoh. Some people have fetishes that do not need to be witnessed by strangers; maybe the host retired from the trauma.
Speaking to "Newsweek", the guest explained that there was also a note warning that the neighbours are “very sensitive to noise”, which might be the real reason behind the no-romance lockdown.
Basically: “Please love each other quietly, thank you, and also, while standing.” Hilarious.
Still, the couple said they respected the rules and insisted no one should judge Istanbul for this; it’s a gorgeous city with warm, friendly people. The stickers, he said, were likely just a neighbour issue that “can happen anywhere.”
Reddit users, however, had their own theories, as they often do.
One person wrote: “I feel like this means they aren’t planning to wash the sheets.”
Some hosts absolutely do that nonsense. One minute you’re lying down after a long flight, the next you realise you’re basically cuddling bed bugs and someone’s 2019 mattress stains.
Another commenter tried to be diplomatic: “Yeah, they put that sign so people don't break the bed and injure themselves, not because they are the F*** police and it's their life mission to prevent people from making love.”
Someone else added: “The other possibility is that the bed may break. It may not be sturdy enough for ‘activities'."
Fair enough, but lucky for them, you don’t need a bed to “break the bed”, if you catch my drift. A wink and a bit of creativity go a long way. Leave the remote controls, people!
